Job Description
Responsibilities:

JOB SUMMARY:
• Assures safe and secure environment.
• Guards, patrols, or monitors premises to prevent theft, violence, or infractions of rules.
• Patrols premises to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensure security of doors, windows, and gates.
• Answers alarms and investigate disturbances.
• Monitors and authorizes entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other persons to guard against theft and maintains security of premises.
• Writes reports of daily activities and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences.
• Calls police or fire departments in cases of emergency, such as fire or presence of unauthorized persons.
• Circulates among visitors, patrons, and employees to preserve order and protect property.
• Warns persons of rule infractions or violations, and apprehends or evicts violators from premises, using force when necessary.
• Operates detecting devices to screen individuals and prevents passage of prohibited articles into restricted areas.

Performs duties while maintaining good service excellence and service recovery skills at all times.

Qualifications:

JOB SPECIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each primary duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required.

Education: High School Diploma. Some College or Higher Education preferred.

Experience: Minimum 1 year experience in security, psychiatric or acute care hospital experience a plus.

Licensure/Certification: PERC card preferred, CPI a plus

Knowledge: Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to interact effectively and politely with hospital staff, visitors, doctors, etc.

Supervision Received: Director of Security

Working Conditions: Work hazards associated with potential misconduct in surrounding areas of the Hospital. Exposure to agitated employees or guests who may exhibit violent/aggressive behavior. General hospital environment.

Physical Requirements: Ability to communicate verbally, telephonically and in writing. Physical agility to make Hospital perimeter rounds.
