Thinking about welder jobs in Oman right now. A buddy of mine landed one last year and filled me in on how it actually works.
Where the work shows up
Oil fields and construction sites pull in most welders. Big projects keep popping up too. Some guys start through agencies back home before they even fly over.
Pay looks better than a lot of places when you add the tax break. Still, the long shifts catch people off guard sometimes.
Skills that actually count
They ask for TIG and MIG mostly. Stick welding comes up a lot on the rigs. Throw in a basic safety ticket and you stand out faster.

- Passport ready with six months left
- Medical check before contract
Honestly speaking, speaking a little Arabic helps with the crew but English gets you through interviews.
Living side of it
Most contracts give you a shared room. Food can be hit or miss depending on the camp. Heat hits different when you're welding outside at noon.
Some guys save almost everything because there's not much to spend on. Others head home after one contract. Depends what you're after.
Look for places that cover flights both ways. That detail makes a real difference over time.
