Job Description
The Chicago High School for the Arts (ChiArts®) seeks a full-time Security Guard to join our security team. Security personnel assist with the supervision of students throughout the building, ensuring a safe and supportive school environment. They are expected to establish trusting relationships with students and colleagues, address student misbehavior, and enforce school policies and procedures.

Hourly Rate: $22.66

Key responsibilities include:
• Patrolling school grounds, supervising entrances and exits, and escorting students.
• Monitoring student movement through cameras, walking hallways, and checking restrooms/changing areas.
• Responding to staff and student reports of wrongdoing, investigating incidents, and supporting administrators in promoting good student conduct.
• Providing information on matters requiring administrative attention.
• Supporting the Dean of Students, faculty, and staff in creating a safe and positive school climate.
• Embracing and promoting the ChiArts vision, mission, and educational approach.
• Security Guards report directly to the Dean of Students and are expected to document and report incidents they observe.
• Experience working with students ages 12–18 in educational or co-curricular programs.
• Ability to adhere to school policies and enforce rules to maintain a safe environment.
• Caring, enthusiastic attitude with the ability to make quick, sound decisions regarding student safety.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with positive interpersonal rapport.
• Proficiency with email (Google) and Microsoft Word; ability to check accounts daily.
• Ability to communicate effectively with faculty and staff.
• Successful completion of restraint training and CPR, or willingness to complete training.
• Familiarity with restorative justice disciplinary approaches, or willingness to learn.
• Ability to collaborate with diverse teams and populations.
