Job Description
General Job Summary

The Guard I is an unarmed position that provides and maintains security at the entrance gate, buildings, and grounds of the U.S. Army Engineer District, Fort Mifflin, PA facility.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
• Monitor and authorize entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other persons to maintain security of premises.
• Patrol premises to prevent any unauthorized personnel and ensure security of doors, windows, and gates.
• Maintain a variety of logbooks, including documentation of all occurrences, telephone calls, and radio messages.
• Ensure that outside lights on all buildings, docks, and gates are operational.
• Perform regular inspections of tied-up floating plant with respect to mooring lines, fenders, heating facilities, etc.
• Contact police or fire department in cases of emergency, such as presence of unauthorized persons or fire.
• Perform occasional random inspections of vehicles departing the facility.
• Raise and lower the American and Corps flags at sunrise and dusk.

Qualifications And Experience
• High school diploma or equivalent General Educational Development (GED) Certificate.
• A minimum of 5 years of related security experience.
• Valid Security Guard License must be maintained throughout employment.
• Extensive knowledge of security protocol and procedures.
• Ability to react appropriately in stressful situations.
• Possess written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills with ability to deal with all levels of personnel and the public in a professional and effective manner.
• Must have a working knowledge and comply with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations.
• Must possess a valid driver's license and driving history must meet company standards throughout employment.
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening and a background check as a condition of employment and to obtain access to federal installations.
