Machine Maintenance/Welder
Job Description
1.0 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Is capable of setting up and operating a variety of machine tools in order to fabricate parts to be used in repairing and/or maintaining industrial equipment, applying knowledge of mechanics., shop mathematics, metal properties, layout and machining procedures.
Specific responsibilities may include:
· Observes and listens to operating machines or equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions and determine the need for adjustment and/or repair.
· Is capable of reading and understanding blueprints, machine parts sketches and specifications of equipment to determine the type and dimensions of material required to fabricate repair parts.
· Measures, marks and scribes dimensions and reference points on metal surfaces, using such measuring and marking devices as a scale, micrometer, caliper and scriber.
· Dismantles machine or equipment using handtools or power tools, to examine parts for defects or to remove defective part(s).
· Replaces defective part(s) with new parts or repairs or reproduces parts from various kinds of materials, using handtools, such as scraper, files, drill, and machine tools.
· Assembles and test operates machine to verify correction of malfunction.
· Maintains and lubricates machine tools and equipment.
· Welds parts, using arc or gas welding equipment.
· Repairs or replaces faulty wiring, switches, relays, and circuit breakers.
· May perform general rough carpentry work.
· Other duties as assigned.
2.0 REQUIREMENTS
2.1 EDUCATION AND TRAINING
· High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
2.2 EXPERIENCE
· Prior maintenance mechanic experience desired.
· Able to read and differentiate between material grades and sizes.
· Pipe and pipe fitting manufacturing experience
2.3 KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
· Able to read, understand and interpret machine drawings, blueprints, specifications, and operational manuals.
· Able to use common hand tools and standard measuring equipment, such as a scale, micrometer and venier caliper.
· Able to operate common machine tools, such as a lathe, drilling machine, milling machine and arc and gas welders.
· Knowledge of electrical theory and a firm knowledge of practical electrical operations.
· Knowledge of using standard carpentry tools to perform rough carpentry tasks.
· Ability to diagnose machine problems, analyze the cause of these and arrive to a prompt, effective solution to machine malfunctions.
2.4 PHYSICAL AND SAFETY
· Stand, bend and/or walk for up to 3 hours at a time.
· Must be able to exert 20 to 50 lbs. of force occasionally and/or 10 to 25 lbs. of force frequently and/or constantly move objects weighing up to 10 lbs. Must be able to lift a 35 lb. object vertically 3 foot high.
· Must comply with any safety or PPE requirements.
· Exposure to production environment.
· Exposure to cold and hot environment.
3.0 OTHER
· Detail oriented

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
