Job Description
A leading distributor of pipeline products and services is seeking a skilled Combo Welder to perform high-quality welds on pipeline components and assemblies. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in pipe welding, GTAW, GMAW-S, FCAW, and NDE (X-ray) within a shop environment. This position plays a critical role in maintaining operational efficiency, weld quality, and safety compliance while supporting overall production goals. Candidates with recent multi-process pipe welding experience and full penetration welding expertise are highly preferred.

Position Details
β€’ Location: Houston, TX 77073
β€’ Type: Temp-to-Hire
β€’ Schedule: Monday–Friday
β€’ 12-hour shifts: 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM
β€’ Saturdays as needed: 6-hour shifts

Responsibilities
β€’ Read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and machine drawings
β€’ Set amperage, voltage, slope, and pulse settings
β€’ Perform welding in flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions
β€’ Operate GTAW, GMAW-S, FCAW, and related welding equipment
β€’ Examine welds and complete repairs when necessary
β€’ Position, align, and clamp workpieces for welding
β€’ Select appropriate torch tips, filler materials, and fluxes
β€’ Tack assemblies together according to specifications
β€’ Chip, grind, and clean welds to remove slag and spatter
β€’ Degrease and prepare materials prior to welding
β€’ Perform routine maintenance on welding equipment
β€’ Safely move materials and finished products using cranes
β€’ Rig and hoist valves and pipeline components safely

Preferred Qualifications
β€’ Strong pipe welding experience in a shop environment
β€’ Experience with:
β€’ GTAW
β€’ GMAW-S
β€’ FCAW
β€’ SAW (Subarc Welding)
β€’ Experience performing welds subject to NDE/X-ray inspection
β€’ Ability to complete full penetration welds
β€’ AWS and/or CWB certifications preferred
β€’ Recent hands-on multi-process welding experience

Specifically targeting candidates with:
β€’ Strong pipe welding backgrounds
β€’ Recent GTAW and GMAW-S experience
β€’ NDE/X-ray weld inspection experience
β€’ Shop welding experience versus field-only welding
β€’ Full penetration welding experience
β€’ Recent FCAW/SAW experience

Candidates with primarily structural welding backgrounds or limited pipe welding/NDE exposure may not be considered a strong fit for this opportunity.
