Job Description
To carry out furniture maintenance and repair works across the university campus, ensuring durability, safety, and usability of all wooden and modular furniture, while also supporting maintenance of aluminum partitions, false ceiling, glass doors, aluminum windows, and related fixtures.

Key Responsibilities
• Furniture Maintenance:
• Repair, maintain, and refurbish wooden, modular, and laminated furniture including tables, chairs, cupboards, wardrobes, beds, shelves, podiums, and workstations.
• Carry out tightening, alignment, replacement of damaged parts, hinges, locks, drawer channels, handles, and fittings.
• Perform minor fabrication, modification, resizing, and strengthening of furniture as per site requirements.
• Ensure furniture is structurally safe, stable, and suitable for academic, hostel, and office use.
• Carry out polishing, minor finishing, and surface repair works where required.
• Other Maintenance Works:
• Installation & modification, repair and maintenance of aluminum partitions, false ceiling, wooden doors, frames, shutters, locks, door closers, handles, and hinges.
• Installation and maintenance of glass, aluminum doors and windows, including sliding and openable systems.
• Rectification of alignment issues, damaged fittings, and faulty locking mechanisms.
• Adjustment of floor springs, patch fittings, rollers, and sealing systems.
• Preventive & Breakdown Maintenance:
• Attend daily furniture and carpentry-related complaints in academic blocks, hostels, and offices.
• Carry out preventive maintenance to reduce frequent repairs and extend furniture life.
• Attend urgent or emergency maintenance works on priority basis.
• Safety, Quality & Housekeeping:
• Follow safety norms while using carpentry tools and handling glass materials.
• Ensure quality workmanship as per university standards.
• Maintain cleanliness of work areas after job completion.
• Coordination & Campus Support
• Coordinate with civil, electrical, and housekeeping teams for integrated maintenance works.
• Support shifting, renovation activities, university events, inspections, and audits.
• Maintain basic records of maintenance works completed and materials consumed.
• Assistance in Student Training
• Assist in conducting hands-on training, and skill-based work for students.
• Demonstrate basic carpentry practices, furniture maintenance techniques, and safe use of tools.
• Support experiential learning and practical exposure activities within the university campus.
• Ensure safety of students during practical demonstrations and training sessions.

Qualifications & Experience:
• ITI / Certificate in Carpentry or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Minimum years of experience in furniture maintenance and institutional buildings.
• Working knowledge of furniture maintenance, aluminum partitions, false ceiling, glass doors, and aluminum doors & windows preferred.
