Part-Time Plumbing & Mechanical Estimator

About the Role

We’re looking for a sharp, detail-oriented Plumbing & Mechanical Estimator to support our growing service and project division. This role is ideal for someone who understands both plumbing systems and commercial mechanical systems, and can confidently produce accurate estimates and full takeoffs.

This position goes beyond basic service quoting — you’ll be involved in commercial and industrial estimating, including mechanical takeoffs from drawings and site conditions.

Key Responsibilities
• Review service calls, drawings, and site visits to prepare accurate, professional estimates
• Perform on-site assessments across the GTA when required
• Build detailed scopes of work for:
• Plumbing service and installations
• Drain and stack repairs/replacements
• Fixtures, valves, piping systems
• HVAC/mechanical systems
• Complete commercial mechanical takeoffs, including:
• Ductwork systems
• Pumps and hydronic systems
• Air conditioning systems (RTUs, split systems, etc.)
• Mechanical equipment in commercial/industrial applications
• Interpret drawings, specs, and site conditions to determine labour, materials, and equipment requirements
• Identify risks such as access, shutdowns, tie-ins, and unknown conditions
• Work with office team to issue quotes through CRM (Jobber or similar)
• Assist in improving pricing accuracy, margins, and close rates

What We’re Looking For
• 3+ years experience in plumbing and/or mechanical estimating
• Strong understanding of:
• Residential & commercial plumbing systems
• Commercial HVAC/mechanical systems
• Proven ability to perform mechanical takeoffs from drawings
• Ability to read and interpret plans, specs, and site conditions
• Strong attention to detail with a focus on profitability and risk management
• Clear and professional communication skills

Bonus if you have:
• Field experience as a plumber or mechanical technician
• Experience in commercial or industrial projects
• Familiarity with takeoff software (Bluebeam, PlanSwift, etc.)
• Experience working with property managers, GCs, or facilities teams
