Position Description

Scott Springfield by Modine is tier-1 supplier that offers scalable air handling solutions for commercial and industrial customers across North America. SSM has garnered a hard-earned reputation for customer service, quality and reliability. To support its growth and expansion, SSM is looking to add a Journeyman Welder to the Production team.

This is a Day Shift Position from 6:00am-2:30pm Monday-Friday

This role will be based at our 2234 Portland St SE location in Calgary Alberta.

Key Responsibilities

As a Journeyman Welder, you will be accountable for FCAW and GMAW welding of structural steel, aluminum, and/or stainless steel.
• Ability to fit up skids according to Engineer Drawings
• Employee is responsible to perform the above mentioned, and any other tasks assigned to them in a safe manner and in accordance with our Health & Safety Policies, JHA’s & SWP’s.
• Employee is responsible to understand and follow all Company Policies and Rules.

Required Education & Qualifications
• Proven experience with welding using FCAW and GMAW, and plasma cutting
• Grade 12 education or equivalent
• Ability to lift 50 lbs.
• Must demonstrate organizational skills and be able to work independently.
• Must exhibit safe work practices.
• Must be willing to work in other areas of our facility as required.
• Previous experience in manufacturing environment an asset
• Must be able work OT on weekdays and weekends when required.
• Must be able to communicate effectively with Co-Workers, Team Leads, Supervisors, Engineering, Quality and Health & Safety.
• Comfortable working in loud environments (hearing protection required).
• Steel toed boots (CSA Approved 6’ in height or greater) required.
• General understanding of engineering and sheet metal principles.
• Ability to use various hand & power tools (drills, grinders, chop saws, band saws, measuring tape, etc.).
• Experience using shears and press brakes will be considered an asset.
• Ability to accurately read drawings.
• Experience performing preventative maintenance on welding equipment.
• CWB Certification (Training & Testing on-site)
