About Us

FMCG Food manufacturer producing for retail and food-service customers. We're looking for a hands-on Senior Electrician with mechatronics expertise to strengthen our maintenance function and lead a small technical team.

The Role

You'll be responsible for the electrical and mechatronic integrity of our production lines, ensuring maximum uptime across equipment. This is a senior, hands-on role that also carries supervisory responsibility for maintenance technicians.

Key Responsibilities
• Diagnose, repair, and maintain electrical, PLC, and mechatronic systems across production and packaging lines
• Lead and mentor a team of electricians/maintenance staff, allocating work and reviewing quality of repairs
• Plan and implement preventative maintenance schedules to minimise unplanned downtime
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, PLC programs (Siemens/Allen-Bradley or similar), and control panel layouts
• Ensure compliance with OHS Act, wiring codes, and food-manufacturing safety standards
• Manage spares inventory and liaise with external contractors/suppliers when required
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve line efficiency and reduce breakdowns
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and reporting to management

Requirements
• Trade-tested Electrician (Red Seal) — essential
• Mechatronics qualification or equivalent proven experience integrating electrical, mechanical, and control systems
• Minimum 5–8 years' experience in an FMCG, food manufacturing, or similar high-speed production environment
• Proven experience managing or supervising a maintenance team
• Strong working knowledge of PLCs, VSDs, sensors, and industrial automation
• Sound understanding of OHS Act and food safety/hygiene requirements in a manufacturing setting
• Own transport and valid driver's licence
• Willingness to be on standby/callout for breakdowns
