Job Description
Job Purpose:

The core job purpose of a security officer is to safeguard people, assets, and property by maintaining a high visibility presence and preventing illegal actions. Security officers are responsible for patrolling assigned areas, monitoring surveillance equipment, inspecting buildings and equipment for security breaches, responding to alarms or emergencies, and enforcing regulations designed to prevent breaches of security.

Key Responsibilities:
• Assume overall responsibility for the safety and security of designated areas
• Ensure that designated areas are patrolled in accordance with outlined security procedures and record such patrols on the On-Site Check system.
• That all clocking points are clocked every hour and that patrols last a minimum of 45 minutes.
• Ensure that rest breaks between patrols are adhered to and last no more than 15 minutes.
• Identify potential security risks, respond and report them.
• Complete incident reports and required documentation for all security incidents that take place.
• In the event of an incident taking place the Site Senior must inform the Strand Control Room who in turn will inform the AM Contract Manager, and Client of such incident.

All incident reports are to be completed and handed in within 24 hours of the incident taking place.
• Ensure all employees and visitors have proper credentials for accessing buildings (ID badges and passes)
• Respond to emergencies and incidents within designated areas promptly and according to policy.
• Assist employees and visitors with any concerns they might have relating to security and safety issues.
• Escalate emergency situations to the relevant role players which includes law enforcement, fire services and emergency services.
• Monitor alarms and security cameras and investigate any breaches.
• Maintain all relevant site registers whilst on duty and ensure that they are kept neat and tidy.

Minimum Requirements:
• Psira Grade C (Updated)
• Have Grade 12, but not essential.
• Must be able to pass a background check (criminal check, reference check etc.)
• Previous security-related work experience preferential.
• Ability to stay level-headed and respond quickly in stressful situations.
• Acceptable written and oral communication skills.
• Comfortable kneeling, carrying, bending, walking, and standing for extended periods of time.
• Members to live in the areas of Delft, Mfuleni, Khayelitsha, Phillipi
• Ability to perform continuous physical exertion as needed.
• Working knowledge of basic security techniques
• No criminal record
• Neat and Presentable
• Suitable candidates must pass all recruitment checks - aptitude test, interviews, background checks etc.
