Job Description
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Performs high-quality welding repairs and refurbishments of trucks and trailers
Replaces rubbing plates
Reads blueprints and drawings and takes measurements to plan layouts and procedures
Determines the appropriate welding equipment required and methods based on requirements
Sets up components for welding according to specifications (e.g. cuts material with powered saws to match measurements)
Operates angle grinders to prepare parts for welding
Aligns components using callipers, rulers and clamp pieces
Welds components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal or overhead)
Repairs machinery and other components by welding pieces and filling gaps
Tests and inspects welded surfaces and structures to identify and repair flaws
Maintains equipment in safe conditions at all times
