Job Description
JobTitle: Packaging Equipment Operator

Department: Packaging Operations

Location: Various locations (as required by the business)

About the role: Safely operate and maintain packaging equipment to achieve optimal productivity and quality while supporting a culture of big dreaming and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
• Operate manual and automatic packaging machines according to established standards.
• Interpret and implement the production plan for each shift.
• Monitor process performance and take corrective action when negative trends appear.
• Maintain accurate records in POMS and PIMS systems.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and labour legislation and keep a safe work environment.
• Prepare and contribute to AB reports as required.
• Use OFR tools when triggered and drive commercial decisions within the packaging hall.
• Support quality assurance and productivity targets.

Key Attributes & Competencies
• Proven experience in making commercial decisions in a packaging environment (financial, operational, people).
• Strong track record of disciplined work ethic and passion for quality.
• Solid understanding of relevant health, safety and labour legislation.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced FMCG packaging setting.

Minimum Requirements
• Post‑matric qualification (e.g., National Diploma) or equivalent.
• Advantageous: IOB Certificate.
• Minimum 9 months on‑the‑job training and completion of SKAP within 12 months.
• Experience in the Packaging FMCG industry.
