Job Description

Sovereign, a national supplier of quality chicken products to various markets with operations in five provinces, is seeking a thorough and committed individual for the position of Electrician for its Hatchery operations in the Agriculture division. The Electrician is responsible for ongoing, planned and preventative maintenance, according to standard Hatchery operating procedures. This position reports to the Hatchery Manager and holds the TASK Grade T10. The ideal candidate must be in possession of an Electrical Trade Test and have 2 years’ maintenance experience in production environment, with confidence in electronic hardware and computer electrical interface knowledge. Plumbing and welding knowledge will be advantageous.

Responsibilities
• Schedule maintenance for farm houses and equipment and perform work to required standard.
• Ensure maintenance and operation back-up systems are operational at all times.
• Timeously complete job cards to the acceptable standard.
• Immediately attend to breakdowns, including after hours call outs.
• Adhere to safe working procedures and legal compliance at all times.
• Assist the Maintenance Manager on projects, repairs and refurbishment work.
• Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
• Do standby as per roster.
• Carry out any other reasonable instruction that Management might issue.

Qualifications
• Knowledge of electronics and PLC controls.
• Understanding heating/cooling principles.
• Understanding of Chiller units and Air Handling units is an advantage.
• General Maintenance skills –welding, fitting, plumbing etc.
• Detailed trouble shooting.
• Basic Computer literate in Excel and Word.
• Computer literate.
• Must have a passion for high standards.
• Driven to achieve results and quality.
• Hands on approach.
• Do it right first-time mindset.
• Flexibility.
