Job Description
Purpose:
To ensure the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of electrical systems within Mertech Marine’s recycling and production environment. By applying technical expertise, preventative maintenance, and effective fault-finding, the Electrician will support operational continuity, minimize downtime, and contribute to the company’s commitment to sustainable recycling and the delivery of quality by-products.

Key duties:
• Responsible for ensuring that electrical tasks are performed to the required standard.
• Diagnosis of electrical errors and repairs.
• Perform preventative Maintenance and respond to breakdowns
• Installation and wiring of electrical panels
• Provide electrical expertise regarding a variety of projects.
• Provide Workshop Administrator with relevant information required for completing job cards
• Housekeeping

Minimum requirements:
• Matric/Grade 12
• Trade tested Electrician with at least five years of electrical experience within a manufacturing/ production environment
• Driver’s license and own reliable transport
• A healthy individual with sober habits and good time keeping
• Willingness to work weekends or standby as required to ensure operational continuity

• Ability to communicate fluently in English
• Ability to work under pressure and to a tight schedule and to meet deadlines
• Strong fault-finding skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues effectively
• Physical and medical fitness
• Proficiency in working at heights safely and adhering to safety regulations
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings
• A meticulous and disciplined person, able to prioritize tasks and work methodically
