A leading Student Accommodation Property Management Company is seeking a skilled and trade-qualified Plumber (Building Maintenance) to join its Facilities team supporting a portfolio of student accommodation properties across Pretoria and Johannesburg.

About the Role

Reporting to the Facilities Manager / Property Manager, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, testing and inspection of plumbing systems across multiple student accommodation properties.

You will ensure that all plumbing installations comply with South African regulations while maintaining the reliability, safety and efficiency of the company's residential buildings. Regular travel between Pretoria and Johannesburg forms part of this role.

Key Responsibilities

Plumbing Maintenance
• Perform preventative and reactive plumbing maintenance
• Diagnose and repair plumbing faults, leaks and water system failures
• Repair blocked drains, burst pipes, faulty valves and taps
• Install and maintain water supply, drainage, sewerage and stormwater systems
• Repair and replace geysers, pumps and sanitary fittings
• Respond to emergency plumbing breakdowns

Building Maintenance
• Conduct routine plumbing inspections
• Assist with general building maintenance
• Ensure uninterrupted plumbing services across all buildings
• Coordinate maintenance with contractors and suppliers
• Maintain plumbing equipment and company tools

Compliance & Inspections
• Ensure compliance with South African plumbing regulations
• Conduct plumbing inspections and testing
• Issue Plumbing Certificates of Compliance (COCs) where applicable
• Maintain maintenance and compliance records
• Ensure statutory compliance across all sites

Health & Safety
• Comply with Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) legislation
• Conduct risk assessments before commencing work
• Follow safe working procedures
• Use appropriate PPE
• Report hazards and unsafe conditions
• Promote a safe living environment for students

Minimum Requirements
• Qualified Plumber with a recognised Red Seal Trade Certificate
• Registered to issue Plumbing Certificates of Compliance (COCs) where applicable
• Minimum 3–5 years' post-trade experience
• Experience in Building Maintenance, Facilities Management or Property Maintenance
• Experience maintaining Commercial, Residential or Student Accommodation buildings
• Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting skills
• Knowledge of South African plumbing regulations
• Valid South African driver's licence
• Willingness to travel regularly between Pretoria and Johannesburg
• Ability to work after hours and attend emergency call-outs when required
