Job Description
We are recruiting a Retail Security Guard for a corporate client site in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal. You will control access to the premises, conduct searches of personnel and vehicles, monitor CCTV systems, and maintain a visible security presence. The ideal candidate is alert, disciplined, and presents a professional image.

Responsibilities
• Monitor CCTV camera feeds in real time from a control room, identifying and responding to any unusual or suspicious activity.
• Assist with emergency procedures including fire evacuations, medical emergencies, and crisis situations according to established protocols.
• Write detailed and accurate incident reports describing security events, observations, and actions taken for management review.
• Control access to buildings and sites by verifying identification, issuing visitor passes, and maintaining an accurate access register.
• Respond promptly to alarm activations, investigate the cause, and take appropriate action including escalation to armed response or law enforcement.
• Supervise and coordinate a team of security officers, managing shift rosters and ensuring all posts are adequately staffed.

Requirements
• The ability to remain calm and make sound decisions under pressure in emergency or high-stress situations.
• A valid PSIRA registration at the appropriate grade level for the position being applied for.
• For armed response roles, a valid firearm competency certificate and experience in handling firearms safely.
• Grade 12 certificate is preferred; Grade 10 may be acceptable for certain entry-level positions.
• Good written and verbal communication skills to write reports and interact professionally with clients and the public.
• A clear criminal record is mandatory and subject to regular review as per PSIRA requirements.
