Job Description
Introduction

We are looking for an experienced Industrial Electrician / Site Supervisor with a strong background in low voltage electrical installations within industrial environments.

This role is suited to a hands-on, technically strong electrician who can supervise work on site while also getting involved in the practical execution of electrical installations. The successful candidate will work across industrial projects involving cable installations, electrical panels, motor control centres, generators, earthing, testing, commissioning and fault-finding.

This is not a residential electrical role. We are looking for someone with solid industrial experience who understands site execution, quality workmanship, safety compliance and team coordination.

Duties & Responsibilities
• Supervise and coordinate low voltage electrical installation work on industrial project sites.
• Oversee cable installations, cable routing, cable trays, ladders and support structures.
• Perform and/or supervise cable terminations according to drawings, standards and site requirements.
• Install, connect and inspect electrical panels, power distribution boards and motor control centres.
• Support installation, testing and commissioning of generators and related electrical systems.
• Ensure correct earthing and bonding practices are followed.
• Conduct and support testing, commissioning and fault-finding on electrical and control equipment.
• Read and interpret electrical drawings, layouts and technical documentation.
• Manage electricians, assistants and subcontractors on site.
• Plan daily work activities, allocate tasks and monitor progress.
• Ensure work is completed safely, correctly and to the required quality standards.
• Maintain site documentation, progress updates, snag lists and handover records.
• Liaise with project managers, engineers, subcontractors and clients where required.
• Promote safe work practices and ensure compliance with site safety procedures.

Minimum Requirements
• Electrical Trade Certificate essential.
• Minimum 10 years’ experience in the low voltage electrical field.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in an industrial environment.
• Strong experience with low voltage electrical systems.
• Proven experience with cable installations and terminations.
• Experience with electrical panels, including power distribution and motor control centres.
• Experience working with generators.
• Good understanding of earthing and bonding.
• Experience with cable support structures, including cable trays and ladders.
• Strong testing, commissioning and fault-finding ability on electrical and/or control equipment.
• Proven team management or site supervision experience.
• Good exposure to site safety requirements, compliance and safe working procedures.
• Must be fluent in Afrikaans (verbal/written)

Highly Advantageous

The following will be considered strong advantages:
• Qualification or practical experience in medium voltage electrical work.
• Wireman’s License.
• At least 3 years’ direct exposure to water and wastewater treatment works projects.
• Good experience with PLC control systems.
• Experience or certification in lighting and surge protection installations.
