Job Description
Introduction

An exciting opportunity has become available for an Electrician at our client's site in Howick

Duties & Responsibilities

Carry out daily plant check as required

Assist the electrical foreman in planning leading, organizing and controlling the electrical department and its function

Carry out repairs to motors, control equipment and other electrical equipment

Accurately record all work done on job cards or on planned maintenance schedules

Report all serious defects and defects which could not be repaired to the electrical foreman and engineer

Carry out planned maintenance scheduled as required

Carry out safety inspections on equipment and plant as required

Undertake any reasonable request of electrical foreman or engineering manager

Perform stand-by duties on an ongoing basis

Control electrical inventory and spares

Review and comment on work done by artisans and maintenance workers on breakdowns and electrical department on a daily basis

Assist electricians on breakdown and provide training when needed to electricians

Desired Experience & Qualification

Theory training in the electrical trade , equivalent to N6

Practical training and qualified with Trade Test

Basic training on AC & DC Variable Speed Drives

Knowledge and understanding of PLC’s

Knowledge and Skills

• Thorough knowledge and understanding of electricity, electrical and electronic equipment and the tools used in the industry.

• Ability to fault find and solve problems on industrial machinery.

• To be practically inclined and have ability to work with hands and tools.

• Ability to read and understand electrical drawings, both schematic and wiring diagrams.

• Ability to work accurately, neatly and efficiently

• Ability to work under pressure.

• Ability to work in dusty conditions.

• Ability to work extensive hours

Package & Remuneration

Fixed Salary: R20 971.36

Pension Fund: 7.5% company contribution & 7.5 % employee contribution

Medical Aid: 50% company contribution up to maximum of R1000.00
