Our client is looking for a dedicated and experienced Senior Truck Driver to join their logistics team, operating primarily on long-haul routes. This is a critical role requiring a high level of responsibility, safety consciousness, and reliability. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of goods across various regions.

Responsibilities:
Operate heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) in a safe and legal manner, adhering to all traffic laws and company policies. Plan and execute long-distance delivery routes, optimizing for time and fuel efficiency. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure roadworthiness and report any defects promptly. Load and unload cargo as required, ensuring proper securing of goods to prevent damage or shifting during transit. Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, delivery times, and any incidents or delays. Provide excellent customer service during delivery and pickup operations, representing the company professionally. Troubleshoot minor vehicle issues and communicate effectively with dispatch and maintenance teams. Ensure the cleanliness and general upkeep of the assigned vehicle. Adhere to strict company safety protocols and promote a safety-first culture. Participate in ongoing driver training and performance reviews. Qualifications:
Valid Professional Driving Permit (PDP) and Heavy Vehicle Driver's License (Code 10 or 14). Minimum of 5 years of proven experience as a truck driver, with a significant portion in long-haul operations. Clean driving record with no major endorsements or accidents. Strong knowledge of South African road networks and transportation regulations. Ability to manage long hours and work independently. Physical stamina to handle loading/unloading duties and long periods of driving. Excellent time management and organizational skills. Basic understanding of vehicle maintenance and inspection procedures. Good communication skills for reporting and interacting with dispatch and clients. Proof of professional driver training or certifications is an advantage. The role requires the driver to be based in or near Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape, ZA , with extensive travel expected.
