Logistics Fleet Operations Manager

Our client, a leading logistics provider, is seeking a highly organized and experienced Logistics Fleet Operations Manager to oversee their fleet operations in **Polokwane, Limpopo, ZA**. This pivotal role demands a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of fleet management, supply chain optimization, and regulatory compliance. You will be responsible for managing all aspects of fleet operations, including vehicle acquisition, maintenance, scheduling, driver management, and route optimization. The successful candidate will ensure the efficient and cost-effective utilization of the company's vehicle fleet while maintaining the highest standards of safety and service. This includes developing and implementing operational policies and procedures, monitoring fleet performance metrics, and identifying opportunities for improvement. You will also manage relationships with external vendors, such as maintenance providers and fuel suppliers, and ensure compliance with all relevant transportation laws and regulations. Leadership is key, as you will lead a team of dispatchers, drivers, and maintenance staff, providing guidance, training, and performance management. A strong focus on safety protocols and accident investigation is essential, along with the ability to implement preventative measures. This role requires hands-on involvement and a proactive approach to addressing operational challenges and opportunities. The ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make informed decisions to enhance efficiency and reduce costs is critical. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability and timely delivery of goods and services across the region.

Key Responsibilities: Oversee daily fleet operations, including dispatch, routing, and scheduling. Manage vehicle acquisition, maintenance, and disposal processes. Ensure compliance with all local and national transportation regulations. Develop and implement strategies to optimize fleet efficiency and reduce operating costs. Lead, train, and manage a team of drivers and support staff. Implement and enforce safety policies and procedures, conduct accident investigations. Monitor fleet performance using key metrics and generate regular reports. Manage relationships with third-party service providers (e.g., maintenance, fuel). Develop and maintain preventative maintenance programs for the fleet. Contribute to strategic planning for fleet expansion and modernization. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field. Minimum of 5 years of experience in fleet management or logistics operations. Proven experience managing large vehicle fleets (50+ vehicles). In-depth knowledge of transportation regulations and safety standards. Strong leadership and team management skills. Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities. Proficiency in fleet management software and MS Office Suite. Experience in route optimization and cost reduction strategies. Valid driver's license.
