Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
Hispanic Housing Development Corporation (HHDC) is seeking an experienced Licensed Plumber professional for its CHA portfolio in Chicago IL. This position is responsible for performing plumbing repairs installations inspections and preventive maintenance in occupied and make-ready residential units while ensuring systems remain safe code-compliant and fully operational. The plumber must be customer-service focused and expected to follow HHDC safety policies and Davis-Bacon labor standards while supporting emergency responses and property maintenance needs.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS include the following.
• Diagnoses and repairs plumbing systems including leaks clogged drains piping valves fixtures and water supply systems
• Installs and replaces toilets sinks faucets shutoff valves water heaters and related plumbing components
• Performs preventive plumbing inspections in occupied and make-readyunits
• Responds to plumbing service requests and emergency calls as assigned
• Ensures compliance with Illinois plumbing code and HUD/CHA property standards
• Coordinates plumbing work with maintenance supervisors and property management teams
• Documents completed work orders materials used and repair outcomes
• Supports unit turnovers by completing required plumbing repairs prior to occupancy
• Maintains safe handling and transport of plumbing tools and equipment
• Assists on other HHDC properties as needed
• Performs other duties as assigned

NONESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
• Is familiar with water shutoffs building risers clean-outs and safety response systems
• Attends staff meetings as required
• Assists with special maintenance-related property needs when necessary

WORKING ENVIRONMENT
The plumber performs work in residential apartment settings including basements mechanical rooms occupied units vacant units rooftops crawlspaces and exterior areas and must be comfortable working indoors and outdoors in varied weather and environmental conditions while interacting professionally with residents.

COMPENSATION
Davis-Bacon Wages Apply.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must be able to stand walk bend kneel climb ladders crawl and lift up to 50 pounds regularly; safely operate plumbing tools and equipment; and maintain reliable attendance including occasional evenings or weekends as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (PLUMBING)
• Valid Illinois Plumbing License (required)
• Experience performing residential or multi-unit building plumbing maintenance and repairs
• Knowledge of Illinois plumbing code and safety compliance standards
• Experience working in occupied affordable housing or public housing environments preferred
• Ability to troubleshoot water supply drainage and fixture systems independently
• Provide own hand tools appropriate for licensed plumbing work
• Valid drivers license vehicle insurance and safe driving record required
• Ability to travel between multiple HHDC properties
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred depending on resident needs
• Must comply with Davis-Bacon wage reporting requirements where applicable
