DAMASCUS BAKERIES is a 3rd Generation Bakery founded in 1930. We have three baking facilities: Brooklyn, New York, our history; Newark, NJ, our corporate offices and current primary bakery; Clifton, NJ, our newest and largest bakery, as well as our R&D center.

We have a very strong- and even historic- presence in the Metro New York market as the premier baker of pitas, lavash, wraps and other flatbreads. Since 2000, we have expanded our capacity and distribution to the National Market, supplying and partnering with many of America's top QSR's, Casual Dining Restaurants, Food Service Establishments, Retail, Club and Natural Stores, Institutions, Distributors, and other Bakeries. For many of our customers, we have been the Flatbread Partner that has helped to create some of America's most exciting, and delicious, sandwiches and pizzas.

In recent years we introduced Brooklyn Bred Since 1930, a retail brand for our retail products which include Pizza Crusts, Bistro Buns, Soft Bread Sticks, Focaccia and more. With the start-up of our Clifton Bakery, we have ambitions to expand our product line to include sweet and savory baked goods, snacks, culinary offerings.

We are an SQF Level 3 company that currently employs over 300 people, some who have been with us for more than 40 years. The hours for the Packer Position are 6pm - 5am and pay up to $16.00 per hour and Overtime if wanted. Must be able to work Weekends! This position is location at our bakery Brooklyn NY

JOB SUMMARY:

To properly count and place baked products into plastic packaging. Ensure proper sealing of the plastic, and proper count and orientation in trays or boxes.

Requirements:

Ø Must be able to read (English) and do basic mathematics.

Ø Must adhere to company rules of conduct and operating standards.

Ø Must adhere to all GMP’s and Safety regulations.

Ø Must be able to withstand working in a warm environment.

Skills:

Ø Ability stand and work on feet for long periods.

Ø Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.

Ø Ability to count and display manual dexterity.

Ø Ability to keep up with the fast pace of production.

Ø Ability to follow direction and maintain attention to detail.

Ø Ability to effectively communicate with Supervision and other operators.

Job Duties:

Ø Check and verify the production order with the Supervisor.

Ø Insert bread into plastic bags ensuring proper piece count.

Ø Insert bags into a heat sealer ensuring the proper closure of the bag.

Ø Stacking product into trays or boxes.

Ø Stacking trays according to the order and stack pattern.

Ø Stacking boxes on pallets according to the established configuration.

Ø Maintain excellent housekeeping, including sweeping, wiping and dusting equipment and throwing out garbage.
