Post Haste is searching for a Service Director to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience with both FOH management and running a variety of service styles, including private events, in a fast-paced restaurant. We want to find someone who can embody our core values of local sourcing, sustainability, and providing fantastic, memorable guest experiences. Our Service Director will work directly with the Executive Chef and Owners to set the FOH team up for success and ensure excellent customer experience. The Service Director should be able to anticipate our customer's and colleague’s needs, and address them accordingly in a timely fashion. As the face of the organization on the floor, it is important that the Service Director identify with the mission of the restaurant and be able to communicate this effectively to guests and staff.

Post Haste is a restaurant and cocktail bar in East Kensington focused on local and seasonal sourcing. The backbone of our food and beverage program is creativity in a welcoming environment, and we pride ourselves on excellent customer service, staff education and our fantastic food and beverage programs. The primary responsibilities for the Service Director will include but are not limited to:
• Manage day to day operations, including scheduling, cuts, steps & standards of service, mentorship, and training of staff.
• Assist in running of both private and special events.
• Structure and Manage daily pre-shift and staff meetings.
• Work with fellow managers & chefs to educate staff about our culinary, cocktail, wine and service offerings. Build enthusiasm amongst staff members to taste, learn and discuss our menu.
• Educate, coach, and counsel colleagues, including disciplinary procedures.
• Manage reservations & guest communication in OpenTable, including communicating and updating guest notes, alerting staff to service needs and responding to requests
• Hire, build, train and mentor an exceptional FOH team. Implement & monitor training programs so the staff feel confident in their knowledge.
• Foster a culture of excellence, creativity and empathy, creating growth pathways for team members.
• Act as a point of contact for guests and regulars, developing repeat and return guests, identifying individuals who are neighbors or first time diners and tailoring their experience.
• Assist with guests' concerns or complaints as they arise, in coordination with the FOH team and kitchen.
• Assist with inventory and ordering of smallwares / dry goods.
• Foster an environment of generosity, focus, kindness, and discipline amongst all staff.

In addition, we expect the Service Director to:
• Provide leadership and support for all Restaurant Staff.
• Develop & maintain systems for the efficient operation of the restaurant
• Keep record, communicate and take necessary next steps for any exemplary or deficient examples of food, décor or service.
• Perform administrative duties such as, but not limited to, scheduling, tip management and inventory.
• Be willing and able to work holidays, weekends, AM and PM Shifts based on business needs.
• Maintain professional appearance and demeanour at all times.
