Mission

Brief Description

The packer is responsible, according to process and procedure, for handling and monitoring quality of material that will be converted into finished product; finished product; packaging materials; and related scrap that results from converting and other associated processes.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Handle and move (e.g. pack, feed, palletize, aerate, bale) process specific material/product consistent with the assigned position, the machine speed, and customer and quality specifications.

Ensure that all materials associated with the converting process and consistent with the assigned position are available in the correct quantities and in the correct location for order being run.
(e.g. RSCs, dividers, bags, film, blanks, etc.)

Perform process and product specific quality inspections, complete Quality Control documentation, and communicate any quality issues to the operator and supervisor.
Record data on specified forms and complete required documentation.
Use RF scanner for process specific requirements to scan transactions to the warehouse.
Management and to generate load tags.

Prepare, unwrap, wrap loads using hand wrapper/ stretch wrapper/banding equipment following the wrapping/banding requirements for the process specific product/material and for assigned position.
Use manual/ electric pallet jack consistent with assigned position to stage pallets/product/ materials in designated area.

Dispose of process specific waste material following all safety requirements and waste disposal procedures for assigned position to move waste to the baler and for operation of the baler.

Assist the machine operator and perform equipment and process specific tasks such as filling glue containers or cleaning glue tips.
Remove jams at machine position and restart machine as required by position.
Communicate any machine or product issues to the operator or supervisor.
Perform general housekeeping in the work area and assist others as required during machine down time.
Comply with all company policies and procedures including GMP, PPE, HACCP, LOTO, and JSA regulations.
Responsible for ensuring, where applicable, the product safety, quality, regulatory compliance and legality of all products produced and sold.

Work in accordance with all company policies and procedures regarding employment, safety, quality, product safety and legality, security, and regulatory compliance as applicable.

Qualifications

Less than high school diploma, but some previous work-related skill, knowledge, or experience is usually needed.
Equivalent experience or experience multi-tasking in a fast-paced work environment

OTHER REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, &

ABILITIES:
Ability to use RF scanner for warehouse management system transactions as required for position.
Ability to operate a manual pallet jack and/or an electric pallet jack as required for position.

Ability to use material handling devices such as a hoist and a pneumatic lift assist handling device as required for position.
Ability to read, understand and comprehend documents such as safety rules, internal quality procedures, and machine operating procedures.
Ability to communicate production issues to supervisors and others in work area.
Basic mathematics (i.e. counting).

Working Environment

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL EXPECTATIONS:
Safety glasses with side shields, hearing protection, and steel-toed shoes are required. In addition, task specific PPE may be required.
