PER DIEM TIG WELDER

Job Title: Welder/Fabricator

Job Description

Join our team as a Welder/Fabricator, where you will play a pivotal role in the assembly and fabrication of small to large-scale structures and assemblies. You will work closely with a lead welder to ensure accurate assessment of weld procedures, materials, and rod sizes for each project, while contributing to innovative aerospace technology development.

Responsibilities
β€’ Perform class A welds; cut, trim, fit, and fabricate metal components to dimensions for building and assembling.
β€’ Collaborate with lead welder to ensure proper weld procedure, material type, and rod size assessment for each welding project.
β€’ Analyze engineering drawings and specifications to plan welding operations where procedural information is unavailable.
β€’ Continuously improve operations, decrease turnaround times, and streamline work processes.
β€’ Communicate effectively with management, supervisors, engineering staff, and planners to achieve build efficiency.
β€’ Modify, repair, assemble, and install launch vehicles.
β€’ Check work after completion to ensure it meets drawing specifications.
β€’ Handle and dispose of hazardous materials in an approved manner.
β€’ Install and assemble custom and off-the-shelf tooling and machinery for building primary tank structures.
β€’ Setup safety equipment and work platforms at elevation.
β€’ Operate general shop equipment and vehicles (forklifts, boom lifts, scissor lifts, etc.).

Essential Skills
β€’ 1+ years of experience with TIG welding in a manufacturing environment or certificate of completion for welding from an accredited program within the last two years.
β€’ Proficient in tube cutting, grinding, and fabrication.
β€’ Experience in class A welds.
β€’ Certifications with AWS D17.1 and D1.2.
β€’ Knowledge in DC welding techniques and engineering requirements.
β€’ Familiarity with standard tools, materials, motions, and practices of the welding trade.
β€’ Understanding of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
β€’ Experience with arc air procedures and equipment.
β€’ Operation of overhead cranes and forklifts.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
β€’ Preferred experience in TIG welding with materials such as stainless steel, carbon steel, Inconel, aluminum, and titanium.
β€’ Use of precision measuring instruments.
β€’ Mechanical and machine build skills.
β€’ Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 25 lbs) unassisted.
β€’ Capable of working at elevated heights (up to 200 feet) and in confined spaces.
β€’ Work in extreme outdoor environments – heat, cold, rain.
β€’ Ability to push/pull up to 75 lbs. unassisted for 30 minutes to 1 hour per day.
β€’ Ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs. unassisted for 15 minutes or less per day.

Work Environment

Indoor production facility with exposure to fumes, odors, and noise. Work requires standing, kneeling, crouching, twisting the upper body, and climbing. The environment includes extreme outdoor conditions and elevated work areas. Safety equipment and air purifying respirators are used.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Dallas, TX.
Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $33.00/hr.
