GENERAL SUMMARY:

This position is responsible and accountable for the performance of the following tasks; testing, inspection, replacement, installation and maintenance of all plumbing fixtures and equipment, domestic hot water heating systems, hot water circulating pumps, sump pumps, sewage ejector pumps and related systems. The Plumber must have a strong familiarity installing and repairing: copper, cast iron, galvanized, and carbon steel pipe, valves and fittings. Also, must be experienced with: pipe welding, sweating, braising, installation of threaded, sweat and flanged fittings, disassembled, repacked and assembled valves, flanges and pipes. Must be able to install and replace plumbing fixtures. Must be experienced with rodding of storm and waste lines. Must have ability to work independently and exercise safe work practices in accordance to building code Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations. Performs work in a quality manner to achieve customer satisfaction.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

A Plumber II is expected to perform at a high level of competency
This position is expected to work across trade disciplines to and including but not limited to the following; repair and maintenance of mechanical and electrical systems, air-compressor maintenance, painting, plastering, lock repair, wall and tile repair/replacement, pneumatic tube system, perform preventive maintenance, corrective actions, and minor construction as directed by immediate supervisor
Performs timely preventive maintenance on all domestic hot water heating equipment, sump pumps, ejector pumps, circulating pumps.
Performs inspection and evaluation on all facility plumbing fixtures and valves.
Performs installations of plumbing fixtures
Does performance check on newly purchased equipment before it is placed into service
Evaluates existing plumbing systems for safe operations and recommends replacement equipment if needed
Ability to perform life-cycle cost analysis
Ability to work from schematic diagrams and building drawings
Responsible for personal diagnostic tools and their maintenance
Performs snow removal and trash pick-up as needed.
Must be willing to accept on-call for any plumbing emergency affecting the facility or satellites
Performs plumbing conservation measures to ensure building efficiency and cost effectiveness for water usage
Responsible for stocking facility with needed piping, valves, fittings, fixtures, clamps and specialty plumbing items for both emergency and normal day to day repairs as needed
Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

High School Diploma required
10 years or more experience and trade school certification compromising acquired knowledge in commercial/industrial plumbing maintenance and repair
This position must have a high aptitude for plumbing/electrical/ mechanical systems comprising of pumps, motors, drives, hot water heaters, etc.
Must be able to interpret building drawings and schematic diagrams.
Documented certificate of completion from a reputable vocational/trade school in plumbing maintenance applications and theory preferred
Must be able to understand both written and verbal instructions in English.
Ability to interpret building drawings and schematic diagrams.
