Job Description
Sunnyside Community Services (SCS) is seeking a responsible, caring part-time driver to safely transport older adults to and from our Older Adult Center and program activities, including Adult Day Services for persons with dementia or Alzheimer’s. This position follows a split-shift schedule, with 2–3 hours worked in the morning and an additional 2 hours in the afternoon, separated by a break.

SCS is a multi-service, community-based organization providing a broad range of services to approximately 16,000 people each year. Our services include: pre-kindergarten and after school programs; college prep and career programs for teens and young adults; supports for immigrants; a vibrant Older Adult Center, dedicated home care services, support and assistance for family caregivers, and social adult day program for people with cognitive and physical impairments.

Responsibilities
• Safely operate agency vehicles (small bus), no CDL required.
• Assist passengers, including those with mobility devices, with entry/exit and securing seatbelts.
• Conduct daily vehicle inspections and report maintenance needs.
• Keep accurate records of mileage, fuel, and passenger logs.
• Follow all traffic laws, agency policies, and safety procedures, and NYC Aging Standards.
• Conduct calls to confirm daily attendance.

Qualifications
• Valid NYS driver’s license with at least 3 years of driving experience.
• Clean driving record (no DWI convictions, no moving violations in past 2 years).
• Ability to operate lift equipment and secure wheelchairs.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills; bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
• Must pass pre-employment and random drug/alcohol testing.

Physical Requirements

Driving, bending, sitting, stooping, standing, and lifting. Ability to carry or move moderate size objects (40-60 lbs). Must have vision of 20/40 or better.

Working Conditions

Work is performed inside/outside in all types of weather conditions. The employee is exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.

Job Classification: Non-Exempt, Part-Time

Reports to: OAC Transportation Coordinator

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 4-5 hours per day. Hours vary, split shift.

Compensation: $20.00 – $23.00 per hour
