Job Description

Performs welding of metals based on American Welding Society (AWS) qualifica23 to tion process.

Performs all work according to drawings, written work procedures, and verbal and written instructions.

From drawings and symbols, performs qualified Mig, Tig, and Stick welding on various metals.

Must pass the welding qualifications tests per AWS requirements.

Performs mechanical operations in the assembly of rail car parts, assemblies and sub-assemblies.

Performs mechanical work using hand and power tools.

Demonstrates excellent mechanical aptitude.

Job Specifications:

One (1) to three (3) years work experience as a welder preferred.

Appropriate trade or technical schoolwork may substitute for work experience.

Must be able to perform qualified Mig, Tig and Stick welding, as well as refinishing surfaces on various metals with a high degree of accuracy and efficiency.

Must know how to use hand and power tools.

Must be able to read, write and speak English.

Must be able to interpret drawings/blueprints and have knowledge of welding symbols.

Must be proficient in English measurement system and be able to learn the Metric measurement system within a specified period of time.

Must be capable of working in an active manufacturing environment, be able to climb stairs & ladders, and be able to lift, push or pull at minimum 40 lbs.
