Job Description
Tank and Specialty Vessel Welder

Responsible for performing welding and grinding functions per job specifications. Selects equipment and plans layout and assembly of welding. Works closely and interacts with supervision. Works with precise limits and standards of accuracy.

Typical Responsibilities and Duties
• Actively supports the Company's commitment to safety and its "Core Values."

• Efficiently produce quality welds.
• Perform or assist with fit-up and preparation of welds.
• Perform or assist with post weld cleanup, inspection, and repair.
• Communicate regularly with the Field Foreman with regard to issues and concerns on the job site.
• Comply with all Matrix safety policies and programs.
• Identify safety hazards you or other employees may be subject to and take all necessary corrective action to eliminate or minimize hazards.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Tank Welders must be able to pass the following weld tests.

Carbon Steel Plate Test
• FCAW (Flux Core) - 2G, 3G, 4G
• SMAW E6010 (5P) 3G, Downhill
• SMAW E7018 - 2G, 3G, 4G

Specialty Vessel Welders must be able to pass the following weld tests.

9% Nickel Plate Test
• FCAW (ENiCrMo3T1-4) - 2G, 3G, 4G
• FCAW (ENiCrMo-6) - 2G, 3G, 4G
• Must maintain a 95-100% pass rate on weld X-ray/visual exams.
• Must be able to read prints and written instructions as well as follow verbal directions required to perform duties and responsibilities.
• Follow welding procedure specifications when welding.
• Matrix Welders will receive a competitive compensation. Rate pay will be established upon successful completion of weld test.

Qualifications
• Tank Building experience, preferred.
• Must obtain and maintain an active status within the drug testing program and pass background screening.
• Must possess or be able to pass the Basic Safety Council Class Courses.
• Must complete the Matrix Service Basic Safety training and site-specific training.
• Must possess a valid TWIC card.
• Site may require fire retardant clothing.
• Maintain clean shaven and/or free of facial hair so that a respirator/face mask can seal properly. (Site Specific)
• Must be willing to frequently travel/relocate.
• Must be willing to work frequent overtime.

Physical Requirements
• Must be able to perform tasks at heights.
• Work will include pushing, pulling, lifting or carrying objects weighing up to 60 pounds, such as raw or fabricated material, equipment or tools. Heavy lifting will often be required to perform tasks.
• Must be able to kneel, squat, and climb. Work will include frequent bending, kneeling, crouching and stooping and occasional climbing onto equipment and/or trailers. Work involves standing and/or walking for extended periods of time, up to a minimum of 8-10 hours per day.
• Must be able to perform required duties for extended periods of time, often inside confined spaces.
• Must be able to perform tasks in hot and cold temperatures.
