Job Summary

The Route Delivery Driver is responsible for operating a medium-duty truck to deliver and pick up clean and soiled linens from customer locations. This position involves loading/unloading wheeled laundry carts, completing required documentation, and performing basic vehicle inspections. The Driver works under the Route Manager with moderate independence.

Essential Job Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities
• Operate a medium-duty truck in compliance with DOT regulations and company policies.
• Load, secure, transport, and unload clean and soil linen carts using proper body mechanics.
• Perform pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections (fluids, tires, lights, etc.).
• Follow all driver checklist items and routine preventative maintenance steps.
• Clean and disinfect truck box after soil deliveries per company standards and document all cleanings.
• Verify manifests, count carts, obtain customer signatures, and complete all route paperwork accurately.
• Operate lift gates safely while loading and unloading carts.
• Maintain cargo security and reposition carts as needed throughout the route.
• Prepare truck for the next shift (fueling, cleaning, securing paperwork).
• Report vehicle issues and customer feedback to the Route Manager.
• Occasionally cover additional routes or deliveries as needed.
• Maintain friendly, professional communication with customers and coworkers.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Work Environment
• Primarily operates in company trucks while completing deliveries and pickups at healthcare and hospitality customer locations.
• May work in indoor and outdoor environments, including loading docks and customer facilities.
• Typical schedule is Monday-Friday, but additional hours, weekends, and holidays may be required based on business needs.
• Position is hourly; weekly hours may vary depending on route demands.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications
• At least 21 years of age.
• 1+ year experience driving a medium-duty box truck with no DOT violations or accidents.
• Valid Class C driver's license.
• Clean Motor Vehicle Record (3-year review), DOT background check, and physical exam.
• Ability to pass a DOT-regulated drug screen.
• Ability to read, write, and follow written instructions in English.
• Basic communication, math, and computer skills (including use of ELDs, if applicable).
• Physical ability to push, pull, and maneuver heavy laundry carts.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, and holidays.

• Prior experience in the service industry

• Ability to safely operate a commercial vehicle.
• Frequent sitting while driving to customer locations.
• Ability to climb in and out of trucks and loading areas.
• Frequent standing and walking throughout the shift, including on uneven surfaces.
• Regular reaching, bending, twisting, grasping, and pulling while loading/unloading carts.
• Ability to lift and move items up to 50 lbs and handle items such as linens, cart liners, and dock plates.
• Frequent pushing and pulling of wheeled laundry carts that may weigh up to 800 lbs.
• Repetitive hand and arm movements throughout the workday.
• Heavy physical work requiring consistent use of upper body strength.
• Ability to pull, drag, or maneuver heavy objects as needed.
• Adequate vision for driving and work tasks (close, distance, color, depth perception, peripheral vision).
• Ability to hear clearly for safety and awareness of surroundings.
• Ability to meet all physical demands for the full duration of the shift.
• Must use required personal protective equipment (PPE) as designated.
