About Modern Mechanical Services

Modern Mechanical Services is a commercial HVACR and plumbing contractor based in Dallas. We serve commercial real estate, hospitality, private schools, healthcare, multi-site retail, and storage facilities across DFW, Austin, San Antonio, and Houston. Our commercial plumbing division launched in February 2026 and is growing — this is the right seat for an apprentice who wants to get their Journeyman license while doing real commercial work.
Requirements:

What You'll Do

· Ride with a licensed Journeyman or Master plumber on commercial service and PM routes across DFW

· Assist on diagnostics, repairs, and installs — you're the second set of hands that becomes a first set of hands

· Help with backflow testing, drain work, water heater service, and fixture repair

· Prep job sites, haul materials, run parts, and keep the truck dialed in

· Document work cleanly in ServiceTrade

· Learn the Modern way — commercial service flow, code-correct installs, customer communication

We will support your path to your Texas Journeyman license. We pay for exam prep, continuing education, and backflow certification for apprentices who are pushing toward the next step.

What We're Looking For

· TSBPE-registered plumbing apprentice — required

· 2+ years of commercial plumbing experience

· Clean driving record

· Own hand tools

· Hungry, humble, and smart — coachable over credentialed

Nice to Have

· Actively preparing for your Texas Journeyman exam (we'll help pay for it)

· Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester (BPAT) endorsement

· Experience with ServiceTrade or similar field service management software

Schedule & On-Call

Monday through Friday, standard daytime hours. Rotating on-call coverage as the second on a truck with a licensed plumber.

Emergencies are emergencies — that's the trade. But we've built dispatch and documentation so our technicians don't get paged at 11pm for something a dispatcher should have handled. Planning and prevention are the product.

Compensation & Benefits

· Health, dental, and vision insurance

· Paid time off and paid holidays

· 401(k) available

· Overtime at 1.5x after 40 hours

· Paid continuing education, Journeyman exam prep, and backflow certification
