The Ministry of Manpower requires employers to pay welders on work permits a minimum basic salary of SGD 2,800 per month from 1 January 2026 in the marine sector. Overtime after 44 hours weekly must be paid at 1.5 times the hourly rate, with a mandatory housing allowance of SGD 200 monthly if accommodation is not provided. Applicants for welder work permits must hold at least 2 years of relevant experience plus a valid 6G welding certification issued before the application date.
