Job Title: Plumber

Job Summary:

The Plumber is responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining plumbing systems across the campus and hostels to ensure uninterrupted water supply, drainage, and sanitation services. The role involves handling emergency repairs, routine inspections, system maintenance, and compliance with statutory regulations. The position is physically demanding and requires willingness to work in shifts.

Key Responsibilities:
• Interpret blueprints and building specifications to determine layouts for plumbing systems and materials.
• Install, repair, and maintain water supply lines, waste disposal systems, and related appliances and fixtures.
• Install pipes, fixtures, vents, traps, and supports in compliance with applicable plumbing codes and standards.
• Diagnose plumbing issues, open clogged drains, and perform preventive and corrective maintenance.
• Respond promptly to plumbing complaints and emergency repair requirements within the campus and hostels.
• Operate and maintain pumps, water treatment systems, hot and cold water systems, water wells, and related components.
• Install and maintain heating systems and plumbing appliances such as heaters, toilets, sinks, and baths.
• Cut openings in floors and walls to accommodate pipes and fittings; cut and thread pipes using appropriate tools.
• Conduct daily inspections around the campus and maintain a checklist on a day-to-day basis.
• Maintain a complaint register and ensure proper documentation and closure of all complaints.
• Liaise with contractors and assist in bathroom fitting and plumbing-related projects.
• Maintain plumbing stores, tools, and equipment with proper care and accountability.
• Ensure all plumbing fittings and installations are maintained in safe working condition.
• Handle local coordination for permits, licenses, fire & safety measures, and other government norms and regulations.
• Ensure adherence to all current plumbing rules and regulations so that systems pass inspections on the first attempt.
• Work in shifts as per operational requirements.

Qualifications:
• Relevant technical qualification or trade experience in plumbing.

Educational Qualification:
• Higher Secondary (12th Pass) – Required
• Diploma / ITI / Certification in Plumbing Works – Preferred

Professional Certifications:
• Valid Plumbing License with clearly mentioned validity date – Mandatory

Professional Experience:
• Minimum 3+ years of technical and trade experience in plumbing installation, maintenance, and repairs.

Skills and Competencies:
• In-depth knowledge of plumbing maintenance, repairs, and installation techniques.
• Strong understanding of current plumbing codes, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Ability to use plumbing tools and shop equipment effectively.
