As a Tactical Security Guard, physical ability is essential as you will be moving around your entire shift, patrolling a post-secondary institution located at M5B 1Y2 (Downtown Toronto).

Responsibilities for Tactical Campus Security Guard
β€’ Patrol critical areas to spot any suspicious activity
β€’ Check identification and control access to secure areas
β€’ React quickly to threats or incidents and document actions taken
β€’ Check the proper functioning of alarms and cameras
β€’ Handle alarms and conduct on-site checks
β€’ Partner with law enforcement during serious incidents
β€’ Proactively patrol the University campus situated in the downtown core.
β€’ Respond to and document security occurrences, violations, hazards, suspicious activities, maintenance-related problems and other related duties as assigned.
β€’ Participate in on-scene emergency response.
β€’ Interpret and enforce the Criminal Code of Canada, Trespass to Property Act of Ontario and University regulations.
β€’ Work with the community on safety planning and community engagement initiatives.
β€’ Patrol in uniform by foot, bike or vehicle.
β€’ Work with and interact positively in a dynamic team atmosphere based on the principles of Community Policing.
β€’ Liaise and build relationships with the community and stakeholders to help foster community engagement.
β€’ Other duties: This position will assume other duties as assigned on a case-by-case basis that may not be captured here.

Qualifications for Tactical Campus Security Guard
β€’ Be authorized to work in Canada
β€’ Hold a valid Ontario security license
β€’ Ability to stand and walk throughout shift
β€’ Current Standard First Aid and CPR level C certification
β€’ Completion of recognized basic self-defence training program, Criminal Code and Trespass to Property Act powers of arrest.
β€’ Will have proven attitude and performance attributes indicative of a community policing environment.
β€’ Be a self-starter with strong initiative.
β€’ Will have a proven ability to assist and support personnel and divisions.
β€’ Be able to organize and prioritize multiple tasks & responsibilities.
