About the Role

Reporting directly to the Housekeeping Coordinator, this position will be responsible for maintaining a clean working and living environment within the Residence Services complexes. The incumbent will be responsible for cleaning and maintaining all offices, common areas and hotel rooms throughout the academic year and summer months. Taking direction from the Housekeeping Coordinator, the incumbent will be assigned daily duties that will involve cleaning throughout the entire complex and results must meet the standards defined by the Coordinator. This position requires the climbing of stairs, walking of long distances between the West and East residences and the incumbent must be able to operate all equipment such as mops, floor scrubber and buffers, etc. The incumbent will be required to work dates outside of the regularly scheduled work week. The schedule for this position is 9am – 4pm Monday - Friday to offset housekeeping hours in order to accommodate our students and our conference guests. Some weekend and/or evening work may be required.

Responsibilities

Hotel and Student Room Changeovers
• Servicing hotel and student units on check in/out. This will include bed making and the general cleaning of bedrooms, washrooms, kitchens and living rooms, ensuring that all amenities are in place and in good working condition.
• Reporting maintenance issues as needed and must clean rooms to standards set by the housekeeping coordinator in a timely manner.
• Taking a team-lead position during our peak conference season (May to August). This will include the inspect ion of hotel units to ensure that acceptable cleaning standards are maintained and that proper chemicals are being used appropriately.

General Cleaning of Common Areas
• Sweeping, vacuuming and mopping of all floor surfaces and stairwells.
• Emptying garbage and recycling containers, replenishing paper dispensers and cleaning all toilet and bathroom fixtures.
• Cleaning all glass materials and ledges including high and low dusting and the periodic cleaning of certain areas including wall washing.
• Cleaning common floor surfaces with heavy cleaning equipment and floor scrubbers will be required on a regular basis.

Laundry Room Duties
• Working in the laundry room operating the commercial washer, dryer and dishwasher machines and ironing and folding all linen products.
• Clean and organize all houseware kitchen kits and other related items.

Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 18-24 months relevant experience.
• Cleaning and hospitality experience is required. The incumbent must be able to operate cleaning related equipment (vacuums, floor scrubbers etc) and must be able to physically manage cleaning areas like stairwells.

Salary: $21.23 - $26.81 per hour
