As per Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada, foreign drivers need a valid work permit obtained through an LMIA-approved employer offer or via the International Mobility Program, with applications processed in 4-16 weeks as of 2026. Truck drivers may qualify under NOC 73300 with proof of a valid Canadian commercial licence.

As per Transport Canada, applicants require a valid Class 1 or Class AZ commercial driver's licence plus 2 years of verifiable driving experience within the last 5 years for interprovincial roles in 2026. A clean driving abstract from the last 3 years and medical certificate renewed every 5 years are mandatory.

As per Service Canada, submit a completed application with SIN, valid commercial driver's licence, 3-year driving record, and proof of Canadian work eligibility by March 2026. Employers must also provide the job offer letter and LMIA copy where applicable.
