Mobile Security Guard (Mobile Patrol / Alarm Response)

Position Summary

The Mobile Security Guard provides highly visible, professional security coverage across multiple client sites using a patrol vehicle. This role completes scheduled mobile patrols, responds to alarms and urgent calls, documents all activity in the reporting system, and supports client safety through deterrence, observation, and timely escalation when needed.

Key Responsibilities

Mobile Patrol Operations
• Conduct vehicle and foot patrols across assigned properties based on post orders and dispatch direction.
• Complete required checkpoint scans (NFC/QR where applicable) and verify doors/entry points, parkades, stairwells, mechanical/electrical areas (as authorized), and perimeter conditions.
• Maintain situational awareness and use patrol randomization principles when appropriate to support deterrence.

Alarm Response & Priority Calls
• Respond to intrusion/fire/medical alarms and urgent client requests as directed by dispatch.
• Perform safe arrival practices (scene assessment, exterior check, hazard awareness) and escalate to emergency services when required.

Reporting & Documentation
• Log patrols, observations, interactions, and incidents accurately and on time in the reporting platform.
• Write clear, professional incident reports with objective facts, timelines, and actions taken.
• Participate in daily/shift debriefs and support operational reporting where required.

Professional Conduct & Public Interaction
• Provide customer-service focused security presence while enforcing site rules professionally.
• Use de-escalation and conflict-avoidance strategies; disengage/escalate when risk increases.
• Coordinate with police/EMS and provide accurate information when requested.

Vehicle, Keys & Equipment Accountability
• Complete pre-shift and post-shift vehicle inspections and report defects immediately.
• Maintain cleanliness of patrol vehicle and protect company assets.
• Follow fleet card rules (authorized use only, receipts, accurate logging).
• Maintain strict control of keys/access devices and follow access protocols.

Required Qualifications
• Valid Alberta Security Services Licence (or ability to obtain prior to start).
• Valid Class 5 driver’s licence with a clean driving abstract (company vehicle operation required).
• Strong English communication skills (verbal + written reports).
• Comfortable working independently, nights/weekends, and across multiple sites per shift.
• Ability to use mobile apps/technology for reporting and checkpoint verification.

Preferred Qualifications
• 1+ year security experience (mobile patrol, retail/commercial, or alarm response is an asset).
• First Aid/CPR certification (asset).
• Experience with report writing platforms and GPS-enabled patrol workflows.

Physical & Working Conditions
• Prolonged driving with frequent stops; walking/standing, stairs, and outdoor work in all weather.
• Must be able to respond quickly, remain alert, and manage stressful situations calmly.
• Shifts commonly include evenings/overnights depending on route coverage.
