THE Pretoria Hotel is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented, and experienced Housekeeping Supervisor to join our Housekeeping team. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising the daily housekeeping operations, ensuring that all guest rooms, public areas, conference facilities, and back-of-house areas meet the hotel's high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and presentation.

This role requires a hands-on leader with excellent organisational skills, a commitment to service excellence, and the ability to motivate and support a housekeeping team in a fast-paced hotel environment.

Key Responsibilities

Housekeeping Operations
• Supervise the daily activities of the housekeeping team to ensure efficient and effective cleaning operations. Allocate daily room assignments and monitor productivity. Inspect guest rooms, public areas, conference facilities, and back-of-house areas to ensure they meet hotel quality standards. Ensure all vacant, occupied, and departure rooms are cleaned and serviced according to hotel procedures. Monitor room turnaround times to ensure rooms are available for arriving guests. Report maintenance faults, damaged items, and safety hazards promptly.

Team Leadership
• Supervise, coach, and motivate housekeeping staff to deliver exceptional service. Assist with the induction and on-the-job training of new employees. Monitor staff attendance, punctuality, grooming, and performance. Promote teamwork, professionalism, and adherence to hotel standards. Assist the Executive Housekeeper with performance management and disciplinary matters when required.

Inventory & Linen Control
• Monitor stock levels of linen, guest amenities, cleaning materials, and housekeeping supplies. Ensure housekeeping trolleys and storerooms are clean, organised, and adequately stocked. Assist with regular stock counts and inventory control. Minimise waste and ensure proper use of cleaning chemicals and equipment.

Guest Service
• Respond promptly and professionally to guest requests and housekeeping-related concerns. Follow up on guest complaints to ensure complete resolution. Work closely with the Front Office to prioritise room availability and special guest requests.

Health, Safety & Compliance
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, hygiene, and environmental standards. Promote safe work practices and the correct use of cleaning equipment and chemicals. Ensure housekeeping staff comply with hotel policies, procedures, and grooming standards.

Minimum Requirements
• Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent. Certificate or Diploma in Hospitality Management or Housekeeping will be advantageous. Minimum of 2–3 years' experience in a housekeeping supervisory role within a hotel or hospitality environment. Sound knowledge of housekeeping procedures, cleaning techniques, and hotel service standards. Good leadership, organisational, and communication skills. Computer literacy will be advantageous. Ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
