About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and certified Specialized Biohazard Cleaning Technician for operations in Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape . This critical role involves the safe and effective decontamination of environments affected by biological hazards, including pathogens, trauma scenes, and hazardous waste. The successful candidate must possess a strong understanding of disinfection protocols, personal protective equipment (PPE), and regulatory compliance. Key Responsibilities Perform professional cleaning and decontamination services for biohazardous situations, including crime scenes, unattended deaths, and industrial accidents. Safely handle, remove, and dispose of hazardous materials and waste in accordance with all local, regional, and national regulations. Utilize specialized equipment and cleaning agents to effectively neutralize and remove bio-contaminants. Wear and maintain appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times during hazardous operations. Conduct thorough site assessments to determine the scope of contamination and the appropriate remediation strategies. Adhere strictly to company policies, industry best practices, and all relevant health and safety standards. Communicate effectively with clients, authorities, and team members throughout the remediation process. Maintain detailed documentation of services performed, including incident reports, waste manifests, and client sign-offs. Respond to emergency calls and be available for standby duties as required. Continuously update knowledge on biohazard remediation techniques, safety protocols, and regulatory changes. Requirements Proven experience in biohazard cleaning, crime scene remediation, or a similar specialized cleaning field. Certification in relevant biohazard remediation or hazardous waste handling is mandatory. In-depth knowledge of infectious disease control, decontamination procedures, and chemical handling. Proficiency in the use of specialized cleaning equipment and PPE. Strong understanding of OSHA, EPA, and other relevant regulatory requirements. Ability to work in emotionally challenging and physically demanding environments. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make critical decisions under pressure. High level of integrity, discretion, and professionalism. Must be physically fit and capable of performing the demanding tasks associated with the role.
