Job Description
We have an opening for a Qualified Plumber at a well-established plumbing firm in Pretoria, Gauteng. This position is suitable for a recently qualified plumber or one nearing the end of apprenticeship seeking further hands-on experience under senior guidance. A structured mentorship programme and registration support is provided.

Responsibilities
Team Supervision & Quality Control
• Supervise and guide junior plumbers and general assistants on site by allocating tasks clearly, demonstrating correct installation and repair techniques, monitoring workmanship against quality standards, and correcting errors before pipework is permanently concealed.
• Mentor plumbing apprentices by providing structured on-the-job training in pipefitting, fault diagnosis, reading technical drawings, professional customer communication, and safe work practices to support their preparation for trade testing with the relevant SETA.
• Conduct quality inspections of all plumbing installations before backfilling trenches or closing up walls and ceilings, checking pipe gradients, support spacing, joint integrity, and pressure test results to ensure each installation meets the required standard and is free of defects.
Maintenance & Technical Support
• Perform preventative maintenance inspections on plumbing infrastructure across commercial and industrial sites, checking for corrosion, joint integrity, water hammer, and pressure variations, and generating comprehensive condition reports with recommended remedial actions.
• Repair and replace hot water systems including electric and solar geysers, heat pumps, and circulating pumps, checking thermostat settings, heating elements, sacrificial anodes, and safety valves to restore reliable and energy-efficient hot water supply.

Requirements
• Proficiency in pipe cutting and threading, soldering, brazing, and use of push-fit and compression fittings.
• A recognised trade certificate in plumbing issued by a relevant SETA or a national certificate in plumbing.
• A minimum of three to four years of experience in plumbing installation, maintenance, or construction environments.
• A valid driver's licence is essential for roles requiring travel to multiple sites or call-out response.
• For drainage specialist roles, experience with high-pressure jetting equipment and CCTV drain inspection cameras.
• Physical fitness to work in confined spaces, at heights, and in environments that may be dirty or unpleasant.
