Job Description
A mining services company in Pretoria, Gauteng is hiring a Urgent: Qualified Welder (Argon) to fabricate and repair mining equipment components. You will cut, shape, and weld heavy steel plate using shielded metal arc and gas metal arc processes, read technical drawings, and maintain welding equipment in good working order.

Responsibilities
Welding & Fabrication
• Perform welding operations using MIG, TIG, ARC, or CO2 processes on mild steel, stainless steel, and other metals according to welding procedure specifications.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols to determine joint preparation, filler material, and welding sequence.
• Prepare materials for welding by cutting, grinding, bevelling, and cleaning joint surfaces to ensure proper fusion and weld quality.
• Set up and adjust welding equipment including amperage, voltage, gas flow, and wire feed speed for different materials and joint configurations.
• Weld components in flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions to required quality standards and dimensional tolerances.

Requirements
• A recognised trade certificate or welder qualification issued by a relevant SETA or approved training authority.
• A minimum of two to five years of practical welding experience in a workshop, construction, or industrial environment.
• Proficiency in one or more welding processes including MIG, TIG, ARC, or CO2 welding on mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminium.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, welding symbols, and fabrication specifications accurately.
• A valid welder qualification certificate for the relevant process and material thickness in accordance with ISO 9606 or ASME IX.
• Physical fitness to work in confined spaces, at heights, and in outdoor conditions on construction sites.
• A valid driver's licence is preferred for roles requiring travel to multiple sites.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality welds that meet inspection standards.
• Good communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a fabrication team.
