Introduction

A qualified electrician in South Africa, you need an NQF Level 4 Electrical Engineering qualification or equivalent, followed by practical apprenticeship training, and finally a passed Trade Test. Further registration with the Department of Employment and Labour (DoL) for a Wireman’s Licence is required to issue Certificates of Compliance

Duties & Responsibilities
β€’ Troubleshooting: Diagnosing issues with electrical circuits, transformers, and equipment using devices like ammeters and voltmeters.
β€’ Blueprint Reading: Interpreting technical diagrams and blueprints to plan layouts for wiring and equipment.
β€’ Compliance & Safety: Adhering strictly to national and local electrical codes, regulations, and safety procedures
β€’ Installation: Installing conduit, wiring, electrical fixtures, control systems, and machinery.
β€’ Maintenance & Repair:

Performing preventative maintenance, replacing faulty components, and testing electrical systems for safety.
