Key Responsibilities/ Hoofverantwoordelikhede
Welding and Fabrication
• Operate CO₂ MIG welding machines to weld and join metal components.
• Perform welding on mild steel and other approved materials.
• Set welding machine settings including voltage, wire speed, and gas flow according to material requirements.
• Prepare materials by cutting, grinding, cleaning, measuring, and positioning before welding.
• Complete tack welding, structural welds, repairs, and fabrication work as required.
• Fabricate steel frames, brackets, supports, structures, and components according to specifications.
• Ensure all welds are strong, neat, and meet company quality standards.
• Repair damaged metal components and equipment where required.

Machine Breakdown Assistance and Maintenance Support
• Assist with machine breakdowns and production equipment issues.
• Help identify faults and report breakdowns to the Production Supervisor or Manager.
• Assist with repairs, adjustments, and preventative maintenance activities.
• Carry out welding repairs on damaged machine parts, frames, brackets, and supports.
• Assist with dismantling, replacing, and reassembling machine components under instruction.
• Ensure machinery is safely isolated before assisting with repairs.
• Assist with testing machines after repairs to ensure safe operation.
• Report recurring machine problems to prevent production delays.
• Maintain workshop tools and repair equipment in good working condition.

Production Support
• Work together with production staff to meet daily targets and deadlines.
• Assist with fabrication projects and workshop improvements.
• Follow production instructions and job specifications.
• Ensure efficient use of materials and minimise wastage.
• Maintain a clean and organised work area.

Quality Control
• Inspect completed welds for cracks, weak points, poor penetration, or defects.
• Correct welding faults where required.
• Check finished work against measurements and specifications.
• Ensure completed products meets the company's quality requirements.
• Report material defects, equipment issues, or production concerns.

Equipment Care
• Maintain CO₂ welding machines, tools, and workshop equipment.
• Replace consumables such as welding wire, tips, and nozzles when required.
• Keep equipment clean and properly stored.
• Report damaged or unsafe equipment immediately

Health and Safety Responsibilities
• Follow all the company's health and safety procedures.
• Wear correct PPE including welding helmet, gloves, safety boots, and protective clothing.
• Follow safe welding practices at all times.
• Handle gas cylinders and welding equipment safely.
• Keep work areas free from hazards.
• Report accidents, unsafe conditions, or risks immediately.
