Job Description
Position: Generator Technician / Industrial Electrician

Location: Port Elizabeth

Requirements:
• Grade 12
• Trade Tested Electrician
• Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in generator mechanics or industrial electrical systems
• Strong understanding of diesel engine mechanics and AC/DC electrical theory
• Familiarity with controllers such as Deep-Sea Electronics (DSE), ComAp, or Lovato
• In-depth knowledge of health and safety protocols regarding high-voltage equipment and fuel handling
• Valid Code EB (or higher) license is essential for site visits
• Availability for an on-call rotation to handle after-hours emergency repairs
• Candidates must reside in the Port Elizabeth / Uitenhage area

Responsibilities:
• Perform routine preventative maintenance (oil changes, filter replacements, cooling system flushes) on diesel and petrol generators
• Troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical faults, including engine controllers, AVRs (Automatic Voltage Regulators), and fuel systems
• Conduct minor engine overhauls and component replacements
• Assist in the positioning, wiring, and commissioning of new power units and Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS)
• Perform load bank testing to ensure systems operate within specified parameters under stress
• Maintain accurate digital logs of service history, parts used, and site conditions
