Job Description
Our client is looking for an enthusiastic and eager Apprentice Welder to join their fabrication workshop. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for individuals passionate about metal fabrication and welding, offering comprehensive on-the-job training and mentorship from experienced professionals. The successful apprentice will learn to perform various welding tasks, operate fabrication machinery, and contribute to the production of high-quality metal products. This role requires a strong work ethic, a willingness to learn, and a commitment to safety.

Responsibilities:
Assist experienced welders in performing a variety of welding tasks using different techniques (e.g., MIG, TIG, Stick). Learn to set up and operate welding equipment and metal fabrication machinery safely and efficiently. Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and welding specifications. Prepare metal surfaces for welding by cleaning, grinding, and deburring. Perform basic welding tasks under direct supervision, ensuring adherence to quality standards. Assist in the assembly and fabrication of metal components according to specifications. Learn to identify and correct welding defects. Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring all tools and equipment are properly stored. Adhere strictly to all safety regulations and company policies, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Participate actively in all training sessions and learning opportunities provided. Develop proficiency in various welding processes and techniques. Contribute to team efforts and assist colleagues as needed. Assist in material handling and inventory management. Learn basic metal cutting and shaping techniques. Demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning and skill development in the trade.
Qualifications:
Completed Grade 12 or equivalent qualification. A genuine interest in welding and metal fabrication. Ability to read and understand basic technical drawings and instructions. Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination. Physical fitness and ability to perform manual labor, including standing for extended periods and lifting moderate weights. Strong commitment to workplace safety and willingness to follow safety protocols. Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic. Willingness to learn and take direction from experienced professionals. Ability to work effectively as part of a team. Basic understanding of math and measurements is beneficial. Previous exposure to workshops or hands-on tasks is an advantage, but not required. Must be able to work in East London, Eastern Cape, ZA .
