CCTV Operator Job Summary

The role of the CCTV Operator is essential and integral to upholding the security and well-being of passengers, crew members, and the ship. This position involves the surveillance and management of the ship's closed-circuit television (CCTV) systems. The primary responsibilities include monitoring activities in various areas of the ship, aiding in identifying and preventing security breaches or safety incidents, and ensuring the continuous upkeep of the CCTV system while promptly reporting any malfunctions as and when required.

• Prior working experience as a Security Guard.
• Understanding of security procedures, regulations, and protocols.
• Knowledge about the operation of CCTV control systems and related technologies.
• High observational abilities and a keen eye for detail.
• Capable of maintaining high vigilance and focus during extended monitoring periods.
• Effective communication skills for reporting incidents to the security team.

Main Responsibilities
• Monitor real-time CCTV feeds from cameras positioned throughout the ship to detect and evaluate potential security threats, incidents, or safety risks.
• In accordance with GDPR regulations, a CCTV operator must possess expertise in data protection, technical proficiency, effective communication, and ethical awareness to ensure compliance when operating surveillance cameras and managing personal data.
• Operate and navigate CCTV control systems to access different camera perspectives, zoom in on specific areas, and record or export footage as necessary.
• Work closely with the security team to promptly respond to incidents or emergencies observed on CCTV, providing immediate information and assistance.
• Maintain precise logs and documentation of all CCTV activities, including the retrieval of footage, incident reports, and notifications of system malfunctions.
• Conduct routine procedures to verify the functionality of CCTV equipment, promptly reporting any technical issues to the IT department, electronic officer, or shoreside technical support team.
• Assist in security incidents, accidents, or safety violations by retrieving and supplying pertinent CCTV footage as evidence, along with a timeline summary and profiles of involved individuals.
• Participate in training programs to stay updated on the use of CCTV technology, security protocols, and crisis management techniques.
• Engage in security-related tasks – as needed – such as gangway operations, patrols, and additional duties.
