About Us

FMCG Food manufacturer producing for retail and food-service customers. We're looking for a hands-on Senior Electrician with mechatronics expertise to strengthen our maintenance function and lead a small technical team.

The Role

You'll be responsible for the electrical and mechatronic integrity of our production lines, ensuring maximum uptime across equipment. This is a senior, hands-on role that also carries supervisory responsibility for maintenance technicians.

Key Responsibilities
β€’ Diagnose, repair, and maintain electrical, PLC, and mechatronic systems across production and packaging lines
β€’ Lead and mentor a team of electricians/maintenance staff, allocating work and reviewing quality of repairs
β€’ Plan and implement preventative maintenance schedules to minimise unplanned downtime
β€’ Read and interpret electrical schematics, PLC programs (Siemens/Allen-Bradley or similar), and control panel layouts
β€’ Ensure compliance with OHS Act, wiring codes, and food-manufacturing safety standards
β€’ Manage spares inventory and liaise with external contractors/suppliers when required
β€’ Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve line efficiency and reduce breakdowns
β€’ Maintain accurate maintenance records and reporting to management

Requirements
β€’ Trade-tested Electrician (Red Seal) β€” essential
β€’ Mechatronics qualification or equivalent proven experience integrating electrical, mechanical, and control systems
β€’ Minimum 5–8 years' experience in an FMCG, food manufacturing, or similar high-speed production environment
β€’ Proven experience managing or supervising a maintenance team
β€’ Strong working knowledge of PLCs, VSDs, sensors, and industrial automation
β€’ Sound understanding of OHS Act and food safety/hygiene requirements in a manufacturing setting
β€’ Own transport and valid driver's licence
β€’ Willingness to be on standby/callout for breakdowns
