TSU was formed in 1999 to address a gap in the private security market in South Africa – a need for highly trained professionals in effective Risk Management, Executive Protection, Technical Services / Electronic Security, Specialized Training, Asset Protection, Armed Tactical Support Teams and Executive Support Services. Because of the exceptional high standards and service provided by TSU, the company provides an additional service of armed trained static Security Officers, for the protection of client’s business and residential properties.

The recruiting, selection and training process of candidates is specifically designed within the framework of the operational readiness requirements for the employment of security members. This implies specifically selected and equipped individuals, with unique characteristics who are trained to the highest standards to execute security related tasks which cannot be done by means of conventional security members.

The program is designed to grow and shape the candidate into a formidable professional security specialist.

The norms to which members may be recruited as Candidates are:
• Experience.

To Commence With The Training Course, The Candidate Must
• Successfully complete the Recruitment and Selection Process.
• Agreed to and sign a Memorandum of Agreement to repay the TSU Group of Companies while working as an operational and functional member after completion of the Training Program. Or pay for the program in full, without the option of working at TSU.
• Age

Members of the following categories must be in the age group 18 – 25 years (not yet 25 years of age on 1 January of the year in which the Training Program commences)
• Medical

Must be medically fit and willing to undergo medical evaluation. Medically fit classification from a registered medical practitioner without any life-threatening illnesses or illnesses which could threaten the safety of fellow colleagues.
• Psychometrical Evaluation
• Cognitive potential of at least category 2.
• Accepted personality profile.
• Citizenship

The potential candidate has to be an RSA citizen. Whether the member became a citizen through neutralization or other process is not important.
• Language Ability

Potential candidates are to be able to speak, read and write English. Conversing in other languages is regarded as important but is not a pre-requisite.
• Discipline

The potential candidate must not have a criminal record.

Must not be declared unfit to possess a firearm or be subjected to a Section 102 investigation in terms of the Firearms Control Act 2000 (60/2000).
• Physical Capability

A High Standard Of Physically Ability Is Expected Of All Candidates. In Order To Ensure That Candidates Can Be Physically Developed To An Operational Standard, They Must At The Time Be Able To Perform The Following Physical Exercises In PT Dress (the Member Is To Pass All The Tests)
• 2.4 kilometer run in 18 minutes.

ii. 5 dead hang pull-ups.

iii. 63 sit-ups.

iv. 32 push-ups.
• 10 shuttle runs (25m) within 70 seconds.

vi. Have the ability to handle him/herself in water.
• Academic Qualification

Potential candidates must at least have a Grade 12 / Standard 10 or N3 qualification with 2 languages of which 1 must be English. Candidates must provide proof of qualification during Recruitment Process.
• Personal Interview

All potential candidates will be subjected to a personal interview.
• Driver’s License

Be in possession of a valid driver’s license.
