Duties & Responsibilities

Job Title: Double Coded Welder

Location: Atlas Boksburg

Job Purpose

The Double Coded Welder will be responsible for performing high-quality welding on cast components within a foundry environment. The role requires strict adherence to welding procedures, quality standards, and safety regulations to ensure the structural integrity and durability of cast products.
Key Responsibilities
• Perform welding on castings using approved welding procedures and techniques
• Read and interpret technical drawings, welding symbols, and specifications
• Carry out repairs and fabrication on cast iron and steel components
• Ensure all welding work meets quality and inspection standards
• Conduct pre- and post-weld inspections
• Maintain welding equipment and tools in good working condition
• Adhere to health, safety, and environmental regulations at all times
• Work closely with quality control and production teams to meet deadlines
• Identify and report defects, faults, or non-conformances

Minimum Requirements
• Grade 12 / Matric
• Valid Double Coding Welding Certification (e.g. SMAW, GTAW, or FCAW)
• Proven experience in a casting or foundry environment
• Ability to weld various materials including cast iron and steel
• Strong understanding of welding procedures and quality standards
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings

Experience Required
• Minimum 3-5 years’ experience as a coded welder.
• Previous experience in heavy industry, foundry, or casting environment is essential.
